Robyn Bernard, the actress known for playing Terry Brock on the long-running soap opera General Hospital during the 1980s, has died at 64.
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release Wednesday that Bernard was found dead in an “open field behind [a] business” in San Jacinto, Calif., where she lived. Authorities are investigating and did not provide details of her death. According to TMZ, an autopsy was scheduled for Wednesday, though toxicology testing will take several weeks.
Born May 26, 1959, in Gladewater, Tex., Bernard made her professional acting debut with a small role in the 1981 French thriller Diva. She went on to bit parts on TV series like Simon & Simon, Whiz Kids, and The Facts of Life. Bernard was also the older sister of Wings actress Crystal Bernard.
In 1984, Bernard landed the recurring role of Terry Brock on General Hospital, and would appear in 145 episodes from ’84 to 1990. On the show, Terry was depicted as an aspiring singer who develops a drinking problem, marries and then accidentally kills her husband in self-defense, is framed for two murders, and eventually leaves town when she gets a record deal.
Bernard acted sporadically through the ’90s, and her last credited role was in the 2002 straight-to-video movie Voices from the High School.
