Marla Adams, who played the family matriarch Dina Abbott Mergeron in the soap opera The Young and the Restless, passed away at 85 years old, the cause of her death is still unknown.
Marla Adams had portrayed her famous role for nearly four decades after joining the CBS show’s cast way back in 1983 and acted in over 200 episodes of the acclaimed drama during her long tenure.
Matt Kane, who oversees media and talents for the series, broke the tragic news about Adams’ death, as per Variety.
The producer and head writer of the show also released a tribute statement for the late actor which read, “On behalf of the entire company of The Young and the Restless, we send our deepest sympathies to Marla’s family”.
“We’re so grateful and in awe of Marla’s incredible performance as Dina Mergeron as both Marla and Dina made an unforgettable mark on Y&R”, he added.
The actress began her career in 1950s, appearing in various TV shows, films and stage production before her breakout role as Belle Clemens in the CBS drama The Secret Storm.
Her early TV credits include Perry Mason, The Twilight Zone, The Millionaire and The Rifleman, while her movie credits include The Errand Boy, Francis of Assisi, A New Kind of Love and The Last Angry Man.
