The fryers and milk shake mixers have been permanently turned off at one Midlands Rush’s restaurant location.
Rush’s, the fast food staple that has locations across the Midlands, announced in a Monday post on social media that it is permanently closing its store at 5101 Sunset Blvd. in Lexington. That location was located in front of a popular shopping center that includes a Target store and a Best Buy.
The Rush’s location at 5101 Sunset had been listed as temporarily closed for nearly two years. In August 2022 the company said the restaurant near Target was temporarily shuttering because of a labor shortage. Now that closure has become permanent.
The company said the closure of the 5101 Sunset location will allow for Rush’s to consolidate its services in Lexington County.
“After serving the East Lexington community for 12 years, we are sad to close our doors at this location but know that this decision ultimately allows us to better support the high level of service we strive to provide,” Rush’s president Don Alcorn said in a statement posted to social media.
Rush’s locations remaining in Lexington County include a store in Red Bank, one in West Columbia and one in the town of Lexington. The company has five additional locations in Columbia and Camden.
Employees from the 5101 Sunset location were relocated to other Rush’s stores, the company said.
The small chain is known for its chili cheeseburgers, fried chicken, milkshakes and other fast food treats.
