Actress Salli Sachse, best known for her roles in 1960s beach party films and the cult classic The Trip, has died at the age of 82.

According to her niece, Catherine Schreiber, Sachse passed away Monday at her home in California City. The cause of death has not been disclosed.
Born Sally Irene Rogers, Sachse launched her acting career in 1964 after being discovered on a beach near her hometown of La Jolla, California. Her on-screen charisma led to a seven-year contract with American International Pictures, the studio behind a string of youth-oriented films during the decade.
A former Miss America contestant, Sachse appeared in around 20 films between 1964 and 1969, including:
- Muscle Beach Party (1964)
- Bikini Beach (1964)
- Beach Blanket Bingo (1965)
- How to Stuff a Wild Bikini (1965)
- The Ghost in the Invisible Bikini (1966)
Her most acclaimed performance came in 1967’s The Trip, where she starred as Glenn opposite Peter Fonda in the psychedelic drama written by Jack Nicholson and directed by Roger Corman.
Sachse’s final acting credit was a 1969 episode of the CBS drama Mannix, marking the end of her film and television career.
Following her departure from Hollywood, Sachse pursued a career in the arts. She worked as a photographer, notably spending two years as the personal photographer for Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young during their tours. She also spent time in Europe as a painter before returning to the United States.
Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.
